Air Riflery
In Air Riflery, campers will learn how to handle a b.b. gun properly, to use caution, and to shoot at official air rifle targets.
As the campers improve their skills, they can earn achievement pins that can be purchased at Tuck Shop.
Special note: All target-shooting equipment is securely locked away when activities are not in session.
Archery
As a beginner, campers will shoot at a target at 15 yards. Many come back year after year and have to opportunity to advance all the way to 50 yards.
They will learn the parts of the bow and arrow, how to string a bow, and how to shoot safely.
Special note: All target-shooting equipment is securely locked away when activities are not in session.
Biking
Campers will learn the intricacies of trail riding as well as safety procedures they can follow to ensure a great time on the trails.
Campcraft/Survival Skills
And how do you prepare for a future road trip where you might get stranded? Take a class at Cedarbrook in Survival Skills and Campcraft!
Learn a variety of campcraft skills and outdoor cooking skills so that you could survive wherever the road may take you.
Canoeing
Ever swamp a canoe? Campers will experience that, as well as how to get back in from the water.
Campers who want to take canoeing must meet the proper swimming skill requirements. They’ll also need their swim suits and water shoes (if they have them).
Crafts
From plastic canvas to counted cross stitch, from duct tape creations to plaster molding, from jewelry making to woodburning and leathercraft— campers will have the opportunity to make a wide variety of wonderful things.
Fishing
Stony Glen has the lake.
All we need are the campers to catch the fish!
Hiking
God’s creation is waiting. Campers will see what they can find as they explore the camp. Water bottles are recommended!
Horsemanship
And what will they learn? The parts of the saddle and bridle, different riding techniques and safety procedures.
Yes, the helmets are required!
And there is an extra fee for each week of Horsemanship classes.
Kayaking
After campers learn the basics of kayaking and that two-ended paddle, they’ll move on to challenges, races and games on Milner Lake.
Campers who want to take kayaking must meet the proper swimming skill requirements. Don’t forget your swim suits or water shoes (if you have them).
Nature
Want to know what that tree is called? Shouldn’t you know what poison ivy looks like? Do you like to hunt for little water creatures?
All our campers need is a healthy curiosity and a chance to see what’s out there. There’s a lot of nature to see and explore in Stony Glen’s more than 300 acres.
Outdoor Cooking
What about roasted corn on-the-cob?
And everyone knows what a banana boat is, right? Orange puffs? Tin-foil dinners? (No, they don’t eat the tin-foil! Although that might help block those signals from the aliens!… Food for thought.)
Outpost Camping
Campers will spend three days and nights at a campsite that they will develop deep in the woods.
And if you have no wilderness-survival skills, we’ll teach you! Learn to read a compass, swing an axe, set up a tent, conquer beginning knots and lashing, cook exotic meals over an open fire, and more!
(Outpost is required for all CILTs.)
Riflery .22s
Campers at Cedarbrook will learn how to handle a .22 rifle properly and safely in our riflery classes. Once they know the rules, then the paper targets can start to worry.
As the campers improve their accuracy and skill, they will earn achievement pins that can be purchased at Tuck Shop.
Special note: All target-shooting equipment is securely locked away when activities are not in session.
Special note #2: There is an extra fee for this activity.
Swimming
Stay wet, stay cool, and learn those swimming strokes. Breast stroke, side stroke, the crawl… no fancy diving, please. (Okay, maybe a little.)
And if they pass the right swimming tests, swimmers often get the opportunity to try out the aqua-mountain… Free time, only. Sorry.
Team Sports
Some possible sports offered are: volleyball, floor hockey, ultimate frisbee, wiffle ball, kick ball, etc.
Woodworking
This activity is offered based on available staffing.
