Air Riflery

In Air Riflery, campers will learn how to handle a b.b. gun properly, to use caution, and to shoot at official air rifle targets.

As the campers improve their skills, they can earn achievement pins that can be purchased at Tuck Shop.

Special note: All target-shooting equipment is securely locked away when activities are not in session.

Archery

Archery is one of the most popular activities at Cedarbrook, in all divisions. Campers have the opportunity to earn achievement pins as they improve their skills, which can then be purchased at Tuck Shop.

As a beginner, campers will shoot at a target at 15 yards. Many come back year after year and have to opportunity to advance all the way to 50 yards.

They will learn the parts of the bow and arrow, how to string a bow, and how to shoot safely.

Special note: All target-shooting equipment is securely locked away when activities are not in session.

Biking

In Cedarbrook’s biking activity, campers strap on a helmet and ride the paths of Stony Glen Camp. There are over 300 acres, so there’s a lot to see.

Campers will learn the intricacies of trail riding as well as safety procedures they can follow to ensure a great time on the trails.

Campcraft/Survival Skills

How many of us have been stranded in the wilderness with no help on the horizon? Okay, not many of us, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared!

And how do you prepare for a future road trip where you might get stranded? Take a class at Cedarbrook in Survival Skills and Campcraft!

Learn a variety of campcraft skills and outdoor cooking skills so that you could survive wherever the road may take you.

Canoeing

Learn how to handle a canoe. Campers who take this activity will master different paddling strokes and meet the challenges that the instructor sets forth.

Ever swamp a canoe? Campers will experience that, as well as how to get back in from the water.

Campers who want to take canoeing must meet the proper swimming skill requirements. They’ll also need their swim suits and water shoes (if they have them).

Crafts

“Crafts” covers a wide range of creative classes at Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio.

From plastic canvas to counted cross stitch, from duct tape creations to plaster molding, from jewelry making to woodburning and leathercraft— campers will have the opportunity to make a wide variety of wonderful things.

Fishing

We’ve got the fishing poles.

Stony Glen has the lake.

All we need are the campers to catch the fish!

Hiking

With over 300 acres on the Stony Glen campsite, there are many beautiful nooks and crannies to explore.

God’s creation is waiting. Campers will see what they can find as they explore the camp. Water bottles are recommended!

Horsemanship

Campers who want to take horsemanship at Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio should be ready to sign up in the registration line. The horse specialist will place campers in the appropriate classes at that time.

And what will they learn? The parts of the saddle and bridle, different riding techniques and safety procedures.

Yes, the helmets are required!

And there is an extra fee for each week of Horsemanship classes.

Kayaking

Kayaking at Cedarbrook…

After campers learn the basics of kayaking and that two-ended paddle, they’ll move on to challenges, races and games on Milner Lake.

Campers who want to take kayaking must meet the proper swimming skill requirements. Don’t forget your swim suits or water shoes (if you have them).

Nature

God’s creation is a wonder of life and beauty. Various nature classes will help our campers identify and appreciate what He’s done as they explore their world.

Want to know what that tree is called? Shouldn’t you know what poison ivy looks like? Do you like to hunt for little water creatures?

All our campers need is a healthy curiosity and a chance to see what’s out there. There’s a lot of nature to see and explore in Stony Glen’s more than 300 acres.

Outdoor Cooking

Doesn’t everyone know how to make a pizza over a campfire?

What about roasted corn on-the-cob?

And everyone knows what a banana boat is, right? Orange puffs? Tin-foil dinners? (No, they don’t eat the tin-foil! Although that might help block those signals from the aliens!… Food for thought.)

Outpost Camping

Take your basic survival skills… and take that to the extreme with Outposting at Cedarbrook.

Campers will spend three days and nights at a campsite that they will develop deep in the woods.

And if you have no wilderness-survival skills, we’ll teach you! Learn to read a compass, swing an axe, set up a tent, conquer beginning knots and lashing, cook exotic meals over an open fire, and more!

(Outpost is required for all CILTs.)

Riflery .22s

Disclaimer: Many paper targets have been—and will be—injured during the summer season at Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio.

Campers at Cedarbrook will learn how to handle a .22 rifle properly and safely in our riflery classes. Once they know the rules, then the paper targets can start to worry.

As the campers improve their accuracy and skill, they will earn achievement pins that can be purchased at Tuck Shop.

Special note: All target-shooting equipment is securely locked away when activities are not in session.

Special note #2: There is an extra fee for this activity.

Swimming

There are few better places to be on a really hot summer day than at Milner Lake at Cedarbrook Camp of Ohio.

Stay wet, stay cool, and learn those swimming strokes. Breast stroke, side stroke, the crawl… no fancy diving, please. (Okay, maybe a little.)

And if they pass the right swimming tests, swimmers often get the opportunity to try out the aqua-mountain… Free time, only. Sorry.

Team Sports

Campers will get a chance to play a variety of sports in this activity. Sports played will often be determined by those in the class.

Some possible sports offered are: volleyball, floor hockey, ultimate frisbee, wiffle ball, kick ball, etc.

Woodworking

Many of Cedarbrook’s campers love to take woodworking at camp, to be able to learn about various woodworking tools and to work on creative projects.

This activity is offered based on available staffing.
